Walking Through the Undergrowth
As I listen to the new album from Peter Gabriel, I can't help but think about how this song relates to linking. "The deeper I go, the darker it gets." Now, PG was talking about going deep within himself, but the lights also start to dim and then go out when we start to deep link in to something, or sometimes it seems, that the more specific the web gets the harder it is to find the things that exist on the edges of the network. Blogging is a very difficult thing to actually index and have it mean something. The semantic web is supposedly promising these things, but I think it is a way off until we're comfortable with finding topics, and people, and for that we may need a whole new interface. A whole new way of thinking about what we're blogging, how we're blogging, and even why we're blogging.
