LLC and Inc Stains

Looks like the whole wireless thing is finally taking off, as in, will show significant revenue shortly. The consulting services company is in the black, and time is split between the two. Hiring like crazy currently so that I can scale back to 12 hour days.

Side projects still abound as well. There is no rest for the classic overachiever.

Its Been a while since I posted here - have working on other projects, some related, some not - and wanted to check back in here - still up and running - which is good. Looks like the Blogger crew has made a lot of changes as well, I'm getting ready to pick which one I'm going to stick with - Blogger, WordPress etc... but so far it has been fun to watch them all evolve.

Thanksgiving a Bust

The wife brings home a new digital thermometer, and insists that I program it for 161 degrees F - because she saw it on some show. So I do, and lo and behold, it actually tells us that a 12 pound bird is ready one hour and 20 minutes later. Yikes! Needless to say, it was a good thing that we had so many other side dishes and tons of dessert, otherwise, the few guests that we had, would have went home hungry. She also left the stuffing out because she heard that it harbors bacteria - she saw that on another show. Next year the stuffing stays in the bird, and we go back to the other time-honored tradition of leaving the bird in for 20 minutes a pound.

Netgear upgrade complete

The SURFboard is now talking to the G4 surfbox, running OS X, and the HP running XP Pro via the Netgear Router (RP614 v 2 by the way) and this concludes this portion of the wired upgrade. Coming soon - the 2.4 Gig wireless router for moving media files around the house to all things wireless - speakers, laptops, other roll around surfing stations, and the all important Oak communication server. (more on that later...)

Second phase of the network upgrade will be a totally different wired Giga network, devoted to the recording studio being built in the basement, and the current G5 video editing suite upstairs. Will we be dropping another G5 in to the house? Absolutely - audio is no less important than video around here.

New IDE saves IDEAS

Pull a jumper pin and voila - the 40 Gig Maxtor is a slave drive, and backed up to the new 80 Gig drive - Western Digital IDE for 100 bucks. Quick, painless, and a few years worth of emails spared - serious tech convo type emalis - IDEA emails. Ahh, tech. Now I have to decide which operating system I want to run on this thing, buy a ton of Ram for the two G4s and this HP, and I'll be one step closer to finishing the summer upgrade. Didn't think that being a home sysadmin would be such a full time job.

Itchy and Scratchy
Is it my imagination (again) or did I contract all sorts of stuff on the back two acres while doing a marathon gardening cleanup session on Sunday. (Seven hours in all...) I can only hope and pray that the urge to scratch this itch is nothing more than my overactive imagination - otherwise, I will be laid up. (again)

Project Feedbag
Researched more for the project, got some feeds together, and started to organize thoughts and ideas about search indexes for this stuff as well as aggregated feeds. PubSub seems to have done a good job of this, and they have another product MyStack that looks vaguely familiar as well. Oh well, I'm sure that we'll build a better mousetrap.

OY! More drinking...
Went out with most of the crew after work yesterday, drank at 122 - where Ashley knew the owners, awesome free thin crust pizza during happy hour and several Grey Goose and tonics later, and we went over to Hulahanks - even more GG+T - where Ashley and Tiffany split off and went home (couldn't handle it?) then we ended up at the inimitable Grand, where yet more GG+Ts were downed prior to drinking just water and driving home a couple of hours later sober. Only 6 drinks in as many hours so no hangover today... but, will I be dragging ass tomorrow? hmmm...
